at least in debian environment, python related packaging scripts dont install empty init.py file
I guess it would be more straight forward to not increase amount of patches and do it upstream(btw thats only one init.py which is empty, others have copyright header)

Can you elaborate on that, please? Why should an _empty_ file have a copyright header? I highly doubt anyone claims it to be copyrightable.
