Clearing the Browse URL entry via touch is difficult. The (x) icon is hard to hit accurately with a finger. Design suggestions:

• on focus of the URL input entry, select all URL text automatically so that any typing will replace what is already there.
• consider removing the (x) icon feature completely as it takes up text space when typing

• I want to type a completely new url

• I want to modify the existing url

How would the second case being handled when you select all on focus? You tap again?

Yes, you tap again. I'm suggesting the common use case is the need to type a new, fresh URL, and much less often the need to edit an existing URL (tough possible with that second touch to deselect and place the insertion cursor).

Ok, just discussed again with Manuel. We both could use the clear button fine most of the time. Agreed we could enhance the overall (see my original request #3499). But, I think we can live with the current state for 0.98.
