    11vi or ed aren't really user-friendly for kids (or adults!).
    2 Also, lot's of tutorials and other documentation on the web (about linux stuff) mentions nano when going to a console.

    4 Is it perhaps not installed on defora by default? It is on ubuntu.
     4It is not a default installed package in Fedora, but it has been in Ubuntu for a while now.
