Description
Sequence leading up to symptom: downloaded IRC-7, started, saw that the new nickname was in #sugar according to my other client, changed nickname (/nick Quzol), joined an additional channel (/join #netrek), changed the activity name (Quzol), quit the activity, resumed from journal, saw channel discussion, attempted to speak.
Expected result: what I typed should be transmitted.
Actual result: nothing is transmitted according to tcpdump, and the activity displays a message:
* /say: There's no one here to speak to.
... which is in source purk/scripts/{console,irc_script}.py

I just tested the IRC-8 from ASLO.
(ACER Aspire One with 2 GB USB of F14-desktop ( sugar 0.90.1) with yum groupinstall sugar-desktop.)
gdm booted to sugar and downloaded IRC-8 from ASLO
Fixes work. I can /join a 2nd channel and change my IRC name and it shuts down and resumes with the same settings.
