No matching entries/empty directory pages have gray background without hippo

Description

In the Sugar build without hippo, the "no matching entries" search result page, the "Your documents folder is empty" page, and similar pages in the Journal have gray backgrounds.

Prior to the hippo removal these pages had white backgrounds.
