multiple problems with Record-76

Reported by: mavrothal Owned by: alsroot
Priority: Normal Milestone: Unspecified
Component: Record Version: 0.84.x
Severity: Major Keywords:
Cc: dsd Distribution/OS: OLPC
Bug Status: Unconfirmed

Description

That is on a clean install of os202 on an XO-1.5 C2 with the only additional software, the midori browser and the adobe flash-plugin.

  • On high quality recording the clip has always ~1sec of scrambled video in the beginning.
  • On playback loses audio/video sync after 10-20 sec depending on video complexity/motion. The video is trailing audio
  • On low quality, there is no scrambled frames in the beginning and audio/video sync during playback holds up to ~50sec and then dpors
  • In both high and low video recording, the displayed video during recording is very jerky.
  • When, in video tab, you delete all the saved clips, the application quits.

The attached log is from a session with high and a low quality video recording and “auto quit” after deleting the video clips.
It shows multiple overflow, dropped buffers and audio syncing problems, demuxing issues etc related to the recording quality, but nothing related to the quitting after erasing the video clips

Tried record-76 under os125.

  • Perfect syncing in low quality up to 70sec that I tested.
  • In high quality, still a lot of dropped frames syncing is of again after the 20 seconds but not as bad as before, depending on video complexity.
  • Deleting the clips does not "auto quits" the app anymore but:

Test case:
Record a clip.
Play it back.
Right click remove it. The camera window in now black.
Try to record another clip while the camera window is black
The application quits
Last entry on Record.log:" (sugar-activity:3613): CRITICAL : file gstvorbistag.c: line 592 (gst_tag_to_vorbis_comments): should not be reached
libv4l2: error setting pixformat: Device or resource busy"

  • Now when recording starts there is quite often a 5-10sec frozen frame (recoding proceeds OK, just no feedback)

-There is a new major issue. In high quality the XO-1 freezes either during recording or during saving the clip. This is not happening on the first clip but the second or third. Clips should be 50 secs or longer

-Finally a minor one that was the case from the start with Record-76. Hot corners are inactive. Frame shows properly with the frame keyboard button.

I haven't seen these symptoms are gone with latest versions of Record. Can someone confirm it?

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

CLosing as newer versions of record, don't show these problems.
