Description
Having the locale set to non en - I get no spell checking. Can one add this? And how do I get corrections of the underlined words (as well in en this is not clear)? I guess this functionality is just not provided.

I've tested this in spanish, and spell checking works, although it doesn't give suggestions. This would be a nice feature to add. (filled as #2771)
Note: See

Write will use whatever spell checker is installed, the Ceibal Plan shipped an update recently that added the Spanish spell checker. So I think we can say this isn't Sugar but a distro issue.
Please confirm and close as notsugar if so.
