Hmmm, well it looks quite a nasty, technical chunk of information to expose. I guess that puts it at best in the control panel somewhere. Technically it is not really my JID, it is my install of Sugar JID (the unique part gets auto generated for me at first boot, right?) so putting it as a string in "About my Computer" seems plausible, but wrong... It could go in "About me", but again it's a nasty technical chunk of text that changes as you change server and or protocol... So I'm down now to hiding it in the "Network" panel, there's not much room, but it could be a light grey chunk of text under the server input box. Text would need change to match whatever salut/gabble was using, and the user should be able to highlight and copy the string to the clipboard. Though I'm not sure who/what gets this string into the roster.

This has missed the 0.86 release :(

  • Distribution/OS changed from Ubuntu to Unspecified
  • Milestone changed from 0.88 to 0.90

Pushing out to 0.90, need to agree a design and likely use case.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Doesn't really seem a good idea to expose in the UI.
