#4305 closed defect (fixed)

Journal: ordering, naming issues

Reported by: erikos Owned by: erikos
Priority: Immediate Milestone:
Component: Sugar Version: 0.98.x
Severity: Blocker Keywords: regression, r+, olpc-testing-pending
Cc: Distribution/OS: OLPC
Bug Status: Assigned

Description

version: os16

I wanted to have a look at #4104 and did the following:

  • I only had a few items in the Journal (5 or 6)
  • on the Home screen I use alt+1 to create a screenshot
  • switch to the Journal

---> the newly created item is at the bottom of the screen see http://dev.laptop.org/ticket/10905

  • I do create a screenshot of the Journal list view

---> the newly created screenshot has the title of another entry in the Journal from a turtle art session

  • I do create the another screenshot and this one is named correctly
  • I erased the screenshot and try to reproduce
  • go to home, create a screenshot, go to Journal

--> again the new entry is at the bottom of the screen

  • create a screenshot of this error

---> the new screenshot is named correctly, but the TA Journal entry has the name of the Home screen screenshot

Pffff...

Maybe #4276 is related as well.

  • Keywords regression added
  • Priority changed from Urgent to Immediate
  • Severity changed from Critical to Blocker

To add to the last test: The new TA entry title does stay as well. I resumed the entry and the changed title is as well in the toolbar visible.

Setting the priority to blocker as this is a bad regression and it seem to cause unwanted data changes.

A good first test would be to go back to the old datastore and see if it happens with it. As we have done major changes to the DS we could very well regressed here.

That should be a good DS to test with: http://arm.koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=96531

I down-graded to the old DS but the entertaining issue is still there.

After a few more attempts to create screenshots I renamed the TA entry again and added a description in the detail view. Now, after some time and a few more actions it is renamed again to the previous title and the description is gone.

Going to the details view of those newly created items does seem to have interesting side affects as well (rename and such).

I can reproduce here with current and previous DS. I just don't get the bad namings. And when I do the first screenshot in the journal the items get the correct order. They get the correct order if any other item is removed, added, or renamed.

  • Status changed from new to closed

Pushed as datastore: 56171a8e46d53d41ee5f056a9155975917ebc379 after some more testing.

The bug noted in the description is fixed for me with this patch.
