Description (last modified by icarito)

Where are you going

The event "Desayuno por la Educación" is hosted by Marina Orth Foundation, one of the first deployments in Colombia. Also it's the first region here to be close to saturation.

# What do you need covered?

Airfare (199USD)

# If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also let us know if you have specific time restrictions.

I booked reservation for LA3000 flight LAN Airlines departing at 5:45AM from Bogota on Nov 15th. Return would be the same day and Airline in flight LA3019 at 8:15PM.

This will give me enough time to attend the event and the meeting that has been coordinated to discuss the involvement of their deployment in beta testing of the Sugar Network.

# Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can travel?

No, the flight is domestic.

# What will you accomplish by going on this trip?

I expect to engage and involve these experienced deployment with the community led Sugar Network project which aims to provide a feedback and support social network integrated into Sugar.

The ivolvement of the Marina Orth team will directly help to test and polish the solution that is expected to reach the children of Peru in 2013.

This will be an example of international collaboration and will provide a chance to directly connect final users of Colombia and Perú with each other and with the Sugar community.

  • Summary changed from Airfare Bogotá - Medellín (145 US$) for Event to Airfare Bogotá - Medellín (199 US$) for Event

I just learned that the airport is 1 hour away from the event location so I would please request to up the request by 54 USD to cover a taxi ride back and forth.

As per http://www.expocamacol.com/interna.php?ids=56&id=65 the taxi fare is 27USD per route.

Sorry, I believe I'm no longer the right person to approve small expense requests.
The board should nominate a real treasurer.

Robert Fadel seems to be our treasurer since February. Can he approve expenses? If so, please reassign the ticket to him.

According to documentation [1] you are still in charge of this role.

Latest that I know was discussed at SLOBs was http://meeting.sugarlabs.org/sugar-meeting/meetings/2011-12-02T15:01:02#i_2707342 but I don't know that executive funding approval of 200USD was officially delegated to Robert.

I'm adding Robert Fadel to this bug report but keeping assigned to you.

Reimbursement approved up to the amount of $253 USD by SLOBs vote. Please note that any funded travel is expected to result in some sort of information sharing with the community in the form of a meeting report or at least a description of the event and the expected follow-up.

Thanks SLOBs.

I would like to report that the objective was accomplished and the technical team will be testing Sugar Network in the following releases in a school potentially with up to 600 users of XO 1.5 (4G) in December. Developer keys have been requested by the deployment personel from OLPC to this end.

This team's involvement will be invaluable because they are highly motivated to contribute to a free software project and they are bilingual.

Please find attached the ticket stubs.

Hi,
I've further documented the results of the encounter at http://pe.sugarlabs.org/go/Proyecto_Piloto_Hexoquinasa/Testing where I've also added information about the latest activities regarding the testing of the Hexoquinasa Operating System Image and the Sugar Network.

This documentation will be kept in spanish for the convenience of the testers and the deployment personnel.

I might add, in response to Walter Bender's request, that in order to remain relevant, it is imperative for Sugar Labs to evolve the Sugar Platform beyond what it is today. For this, a tight relationship between users, developers and other contributors needs to be established. This is the main purpose of the Sugar Network which has already been implemented and is currently requiring community outreach in order to fulfill it's goals.

These goals have been identified from grassroots fieldwork done in Peru and the region since 2007.
