Can't use OSK in Activity/Description toolbar text input

Description
The Maliit OSK can not be used in an Activities Description toolbar text input widget as it is a 'non-sticky' palette that closes as soon as the 'cursor' moves out side of it. As soon as you start typing in the OSK, the 'cursor' leaves the palette and it closes (screen shot attached).
Steps to reproduce (with Maliit installed):
1) in any Activity (e.g. Terminal)
2) open the Activity secondary toolbar
3) tap/click the Description icon to reveal the palette
4) tap/click inside the input widget, the OSK should reveal
5) try to type using the OSK
Result:
- The Description palette closes after the first character is typed on the OSK
Expectations:
- The palette should stay open as you type on the OSK

Ok, we just agreed to make this Palette similar as the subtoolbar: you can hover over it and it goes away automatically and you can lock it and it stays (touch case). This is indicated by the arrow as with the subtoolbars.
see as well #4006 for the same issue.

This works in OLPC 13.1.0 os20/Sugar 0.98.2.
Thanks for filing Gary, how would yo want to solve that UI wise?
