Description

sequence of events:

  1. new user/visitor wants to stylise sugar arrow; directed to change css;
  2. told to login; logs in with google id
  3. page jumps up, red message "<id> is not registered" but offered a page to edit anyway

would be so nice to have one id for wikis and bug tracking and etc without having to do it by hand

This is a request for central login. We have a wiki page addressing this,
http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Infrastructure_Team/Central_Login.
OpenID is available on the wiki. Perhaps it could be made available on bugs.sugarlabs.org.

Replying to FGrose:

This is a request for central login. (Well, in the end.)

The "<id> is not registered" from a Google OpenID needs to be investigated.

I too saw this red message on the first attempts to edit the user page of a new OpenID account (based on Google) yesterday. When I returned today (in a new session) there was no red message.

Inquiry to the MediaWiki:Extension:OpenID maintainer, http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Thread:Extension_talk:OpenID/First_attempt_to_edit_new_user_page_shows_red_message_"_User_id_is_not_registered", suggests that the problem may be in our configuration.

Perhaps there is an interaction with Bad Behavior or another component that causes this.

Still a problem here, but with slightly different symptoms:

  1. Click “Log in / create account with OpenID”.
  2. Enter my OpenID URI and successfully authenticate on my provider’s end.
  3. Get to a page giving a “Username and account choice”, but it only has the option “An existing account on this wiki”, and prompts me to enter a username and password.
  4. Any choice of username and password results in the error: “Incorrect password entered. Please try again.”, and no account created.

Replying to pwithnall:
We are suffering a regression with the OpenID support, see https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51331.

Until this is fixed, an administrator can create an account for you. The wiki will select and email a temporary password to you.

Please send your email address to fgrose at sugarlabs dot org and a user name (if you don't want pwithnall).
