#3752 closed enhancement (fixed)

Add page-based viewing functionality

Description

When dealing with "real" book-like PDF files, reading in the Read activity is somewhat uncomfortable.

Read opens with the zoom level defaulting to the width of the page, so the first page (the front cover) is shown truncated - the bottom section is not shown.

In the zoom toolbar, there is no option to zoom based on the height of the page like there is for width, so I have to click "zoom out" a few times until I can see the whole page (and an uncomfortable sliver of the next one).

When I want to change page, I have to scroll - there's nothing equivalent to a "page turn" functionality. When the book is logically laid out in terms of pages, this is uncomfortable. For example, where an image or a diagram fills a page, you aren't going to want to see it cut in half. Also, it is hard to make the top of the page you are turning to align with the top of the activity.

Having a more page-based approach (perhaps only as an option activated by a toolbar option) would lead to a much more pleasant book reading experience here.

Right now, is possible select "Zoom to fit" pressing the seconday button over the "zoom to width" button.

Anyway, the mere existence of this ticket, proof the ui is not good. I will add two buttons and remove the menu. Should be better for touch interface too.

When in "zoom to fit" mode, the forward/back buttons turn pages.
