Description
Where are you going?
I plan to go to GUADEC http://guadec.org/ which is in A Coruña, Spain.
What do you need covered?
I'm asking for funding airfare to get to the event. From my place it's USD 2151.
If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful?
Yes. OLPC funds my stay and there is also the travel from Barcelona to
Coruña. But I can't fund all the airfare, which is costly because of
the season.
Air Europa seems to have the lowest price, which is the one I ask for:
Outbound: Buenos Aires - Madrid - July 25, Return: Madrid - Buenos
Aires August 01, 2012.
Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can travel? If so, approximately how long does that processing take?
No visa, ARG passport is fine. But I have to justify soon my stay at
the Spain consulate with:
- airfare back home
- invitation from an enterprise to the event
- my professional activity documents
- access card to the event
I hope this is done in less than a month.
What will you accomplish by going on this trip?
Is a big opportunity to me for face to face planning and coordination
on the GTK+3 track. There will be Simon Schampijer and Carlos
Garnacho, and we will coordinate our Sugar tasks like the port of the
Sugar shell and touch support with the GNOME community. Martin Pitt
from pygobject introspection will be there as well.

Yes for the work which is ahead of us this makes absolute sense to have Manuel there who is working with me on Sugar core.
The airfare is expensive at this time of the year, European summer :/

I agree with walter on this. We should help.

Before voting on this I think we should make sure we are up to date with our Finance information, as I can't tell the current status from Finance page.

Just got a report from Robert (attached to this ticket). As expected, the only update is the purchase of the servers. We have ~15K in our account. Time is running out on this request. Please, those of you who have not replied, please do so ASAP.
regards. -walter

Thanks a lot everyone for making this happen!
I will make sure we will report about the event. I think it would be great if Manu could blog about it like GNOME travel funding is asking to [1]. Let us know if there is anything else you need during the process.

Thank you very much everyone! Now is time to do my part: to be creative and productive for SugarLabs at guadec.
Next step for me is to timely sort out the purchase of the tickets. How to proceed with the income? Can you tell me the details?
I think close coordination with GNOME is critical at this moment, as we are so invested in the GTK-3 migration. 2K is a lot, but I think we should help.
