As discussed with Gonzalo, the stamping functionality should be extended to allow stamp presets, and saving/loading custom stamps to the file system. We can have crayon, bush, etc, like TuxPaint.
Other thing we can add: an option to rotate the stamp based on the direction of the stroke being painted. We can cache the stamp with different rotations for this.

We are addressing this issue from three different directions:
(1) Manuel Quiñones has a patch for Paint that adds some magic to the Sugarized paint program (I am not sure where the patch is, but it is described here http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/User:Manuq)
(2) The patch that tch and I have been working on to allow for more ready access to $HOME/Documents from the Journal will make it easier to use the current TuxPaint (See http://lists.sugarlabs.org/archive/sugar-devel/2011-May/031111.html)
(3) Improved Sugarization will a topic at the recent Sugar Camp in Montevideo (See http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Dextrose/3/Todo/EduJAM).
I'd recommend we put our efforts into these directions as opposed to making any further intervention in TuxPaint at this time.
