[dx2] Flakey issue (perhaps) with suspend/resume

Reported by: m_anish Owned by: bernie, smparrish
Priority: Normal Milestone: Unspecified
Component: Dextrose Version: Unspecified
Severity: Major Keywords: dx2
Cc: bernie, tch, silbe, alsroot Distribution/OS: Dextrose
Bug Status: New

Description

I was testing the latest Dextrose-2 international build and noticed a core dump in home folder.

I basically did many quick suspend-resume cycles even while the laptop booting up. At some point, I started seeing two network icons in the frame.

Obviously, this seems like a hard to trigger issue requiring rough handling. I really can't tell much from the logs or the core dump, so uploading them if someone's interested.

From the point I started seeing two frame icons for Network, I didn't see an extra icon appear when I inserted a USB drive. Further I don't really know if the core dump and the frame icon issue is really related or not.

I don't have any answers, only a few questions :-)

  • Do you still have the coredump? It could be used for post-mortem analysis.
  • What process generated the core?
  • Why is the component Dextrose? Shouldn't it be sugar?

Replying to bernie:

Attached with the ticket.

  • What process generated the core?

Its probably a combination of being very rough with multiple suspend release cycles, even during bootup and maybe related to twin network icons showing up. I've tried a few times again to reproduce this without success.

  • Why is the component Dextrose? Shouldn't it be sugar?

Probably! I don't know enough to say that with certainty and if the twin network icons are related to the core dump.
