Touchpad is not present after restart

Description
After a random reboot the touchpad was not present anymore, either the touchpad device icon.The log did not show up anything strange.
I was wondering if it could be a isolated issue that I triggered by mistake.
I am filling this bug in case someone else sees this issue too.

In order to discern whether the bug is in the kernel, X11 or Sugar, we need to examine /sys/input/mouse*/ and the output of the xinput command (ran from within a Terminal session).
