No sound in Scratch activity

Description

Tested with both SOAS Blueberry and Mirabelle installed on a Minix netbook. HW profile for the netbook is here: ​http://www.smolts.org/client/show/pub_50b7f8f8-c0bd-487b-8dff-586f0fe7ef7a

Playing a sound file using sndfile-play in the Terminal works. But in Scratch clicking on the play button for a sound file has no effect. Trying to import a sound results in an error: "SoundRecorder(Object)>>primitiveFailed"

I found a workaround on Mirabelle (roughly, from memory:

  • install latest squeak vm
  • install alsa and oss support
  • modprobe snd-pcm-oss
  • squeak -vm-sound-oss ScratchXO

Scratch sound works, please reopen if is a problem in actual SoaS
