Description

As discussed in http://lists.sugarlabs.org/archive/sugar-devel/2009-September/019311.html, we'd like to request the creation of a SoaS mailing list.

soas@… should work; public list, public archives, open to join (same settings as all non-SLOBs SL lists). Pick whoever you think would be good as an owner/moderator (or I'm happy to serve as one *very* temporarily until SoaS selects project leadership - which will definitely not be me - and then pass the admin privs on).

Bernie, could you let me know once this is set up? Thanks! :)

In my view, this list should be named "SoaS-Fedora", since that is the project the list is for. Consensus hasn't been reached on "Sugar on a Stick" permanently referring to the Fedora liveUSB project.

thanks
Sean

i agree with Sean in the feature We can have something like Soas-debian, using debian-live project or similar..

I should have been more clear in the original ticket - my apologies. I think soas@… should be the list name, and that the soas@ list should be a place for development discussions of any liveusb based sugar solution regardless of what distro they're based on.

It just so happens that the Fedora-based solution that sdziallas started is the bulk of work/discussion right now, but that isn't necessarily going to be the case forever. If we get multiple distros actively talking on the soas@ list about their liveusb development, I suspect there will be plenty of overlap of work/interest between the groups; if it gets way too noisy, then we can split to soas-fedora, soas-debian, etc. lists later down the line, but that won't be for a while.

I'd still expect users to be directed towards iaep, unless they wanted to do SoaS-specific testing - and for Marketing to be able to decide what the name "SoaS" points towards.

So:

short description: SoaS development
list description: Development discussion for liveusb-based Sugar products

Does this clear things up? Sean, Rafael, does this address your concerns?

Ok, I created the list as soas@…:

http://lists.sugarlabs.org/listinfo/soas

If in the future we need a distro-specific list, we'll create that one as well.

Just noting that Rafael and Sean did get a chance to talk about their concerns and reach consensus on the mailing list - the description has been altered to make it clear that this is a general development list for liveusb Sugar distros.

See http://lists.sugarlabs.org/archive/sugar-devel/2009-September/019760.html and the log at http://meeting.sugarlabs.org/sugar-meeting.log.20090923_1558.html for details on those conversations.
