The Journal icon is shown as an available activity in the home list view (you're allowed to make it a favourite, launch it, erase it(!)). If you try to launch it, it fails and kills the otherwise previously working Journal. If you do try to switch to Journal after that, you'll lock up the Sugar GUI and need to reboot from a console.
