Write UI "crashes" when collaborator unexpectely disconnects (soas-beta)

Start write, share with neighborhood.
Using soas-beta

Connect to shared write activity.

First user disconnects unexpectedly (ie: shutdown without closing write).

Second user tries to close write activity, clicking on stop sign. Keep UI does not popup. toolbar blanks out and UI does not respond.
Write activity shows up in journal, but also is still in alt-tab list of running activities. If I switch back to it the UI is still not responive witha black toolbar, and grey content area with no text.

I also note that SHUTDOWN and RESTART don't respond. If I choose either option, nothing happens, I can still start new activities, switch to F1,F2 etc.
