  • Owner changed from mchua pbrobinson sdz to alsroot
  • Summary changed from Soas-v5-Cocoonut Beta only connects to jabber if using wired connection to Soas-v5-Coconut Beta (and Sugar-desktop 0.93.4 ) only connect to jabber if using wired connection
  • Version changed from 0.92.x to 0.93.x

this also occurs in yum groupinstall sugar-desktop in
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/16-Beta.RC3/Fedora/i386/iso/Fedora-16-Beta-i386-netinst.iso as CD installed to HD
gnome3-shell 3.1.92
you have to turn on wired connection; turn off wireless AP in gnome3-shell then log out and log in to session *sugar in gdm then go to sugar control panel and change color of XO then log out and login to connect to Jabber.
Note also there is no browser that works in 0.93.x sugar.

  • Milestone set to 0.94
  • Version changed from 0.93.x to 0.94.x

I just tested the Soasv5 Coconut release:
It looks like this is fixed if you use the 2-) procedure on a booted CD with wireless AP

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=3355572
I can only connect to jabber.sugarlabs.org with a wired connection.

1-)Boot CD with wired connection attached
(Ad-hoc connection shows on f1 neighborhood until connection to wireless AP shows connected.
f1 avitars remain after disconnect wired connection
Wireless AP connects fine for IRC and Surf

2_)boot with no wired connection
connect to f1 Wireless AP
No avitars on f1 network neightborhood
cp/discard network history
cp/color change restart:
Live User login
jabber is working

This is tricky. User has to do the 2-) sequence for jabber connection to work with wireless AP

64 bit http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=3355573 also behaves the same way,

  • Bug Status changed from Unconfirmed to Needinfo

Please try to reproduce issues using 0.94 sugar in stable distro environment when you are sure that there are no sugar/jabber.sl.o related issues. It seems to be very hard to fix possible jabber.sl.o issues having bunch of not directly related to jabber.sl.o components.

this also applies to f16-TC1-live-Soas
See for links and testing:
http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Community/Distributions/Fedora-SoaS#F16-TC1-live_Soas

Need to restart after logging in to WEP Wireless AP. Jabber does not connect without a restart. On a live CD using pop-up menu "restart" causes a shutdown, eject of CD and loss of Wireless AP Info. Have to use method 2-) (see comment above)
