#2874 closed defect (fixed)

Infoslicer: problems with publish feature.

Reported by: godiard Owned by: humitos
Priority: Low Milestone: Unspecified
Component: InfoSlicer Version: Unspecified
Severity: Unspecified Keywords: 12.1.0, easy-hack, patch
Cc: godiard, walterbender Distribution/OS: OLPC
Bug Status: Unconfirmed

Description

The method used to publish is not clear.

When the user click in the "Publish" button, don't have feedback. We need display a message explaining how to see it in Browse.

Also, a .xol file is saved in the Journal (probably to enable the user to share it) but probably the mime type is not recognized or we don't have a icon to it.

Other problem is, the activity title is used to name this file, but in the new toolbar, the input with the title is not visible in the main toolbar until the user click in the activity icon. Then is very possible the file is name "Infoslicer activity". I think we can move the publish icon to the activity toolbar (like in Write).

Another idea: Infoslicer is not a intuitive activity. May be we can implement a help like in Implode.

Yes, that sounds good.

Or the publish button has two options - one for publishing it in the library, one for saving it to the Journal. And yes, the title should be the one from the article and the icon and mime type should be set correctly.

Now, Browse is not able to handle this kind of files. Take a look at this ticket: #3608

I agree with you.

I moved the icon inside the Activity Toolbar Button. This will be available in version 15.

Gonzalo, can you write here what the message should say when the user presses the export button? I mean, the instructions to open it with browse or share with a friend.

I think we can put:

"Book published"
"You can read it in Browse or use the generated xol file in the Journal"

Walter, can you confirm?

How about:

"Book published to your Journal"
"You can read the book in Browse or access the .xol file from your Journal"

They are similar, but I think that walter's version is better. I don't like the word "generated" :P

I will work on this. Thanks,
