#234 closed defect (notsugar)

Battery frame device icon does not update on XO-1 joyride 2631

Reported by: garycmartin Owned by: marcopg
Priority: High Milestone:
Component: Sugar Version: 0.83.x
Severity: Major Keywords:
Cc: Distribution/OS: OLPC
Bug Status: New

Description

Joyride 2631 on XO-1, well to be more accurate it only updates after a reboot of the whole system. Plugging/un-plugging makes no difference, restart/log-out of Sugar makes no difference. A shutdown and a boot back up it the only time I've see it change value.

Sounds like a distro issue at first sight, but we need to verify.

Just re-tested with soas3.img (latest Sugar I can run) from marco on an XO, and the battery device icon is confirmed still to not auto update to show changes in battery charge. The battery icon does show the correct charge level (or state) on a reboot, so it suggests the soas3 distro is getting the right battery state, and providing it (but only at boot time).

Removing as a blocker, but still a significant loss of utility for at least XO laptop users.

I need to pop 0.84 on an XO-1 and retest if this is still an issue.

Just to confirm. This is only XO specific. Works well here on F11.

Just retested on an XO-1 running the latest xo-rawhide (20090528) from cjb, and the battery Sugar UI state is still static and unchanging during charging, discharging, battery removal, battery insert. FWIW: The battery state is correctly reported at boot up, but fails to update there after.

  • Resolution set to notsugar
  • Status changed from new to closed

Given that Sugar doesn't fetch the value directly from the kernel and it works on other hardware, we can close this as Notsugar.
