SoaS on Ubuntu needs more storage

Reported by: Mokurai Owned by: marcopg
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: Sugar on a Stick (SoaS) Version:
Severity: Unspecified Keywords:
Cc: Distribution/OS: Ubuntu
Bug Status: Needinfo

Description

When I created a SoaS bootable USB drive, following the directions for Ubuntu 8.10 at  http://dev.laptop.org/~probono/sbuntu/, there was no storage allocated for new files. The system gradually choked, apparently on the inability to expand existing files. Each successive boot was less functional, until it couldn't even reach a command line.

When I recreated the drive, allocating 530 MB in Create a USB Startup Disk, I got a system that boots and runs with only the usual Ubuntu package bugs. df -h says I have 338 MB free. I have no idea where the rest went.

Thanks for your bug report. This seems to be related the underlying Ubuntu you are using. As most of our people dealing with Soas on Fedora it is unlikely this bug will get fixed here. Please consider to copy other people or file it where appropriate.

Maybe:  http://wiki.laptop.org/go/User:Probono can help.
